Video Essentials: Visual Storytelling
The primary goal of this course is to prepare students to tell simple stories using the medium of audio and video. Students will understand the fundamentals of good visual composition; be able to demonstrate a grasp of basic lighting techniques; develop an ability to properly shoot video in the studio and out on the field; and finally, perform basic editing task on a digital non-linear system. They will also build the skill of conceptualizing a project through storyboarding, scripting, and project treatments. Students will learn how to use video production software within the Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe Premiere, Prelude, Media Encoder, and basic After Effects. Level: introductory.
Any materials necessary for the first class meeting will be communicated to enrolled students by the instructor in advance. Otherwise, materials and supplies will be covered in the first class meeting.
