Course Description

(Cross-listed as AMER 0014) Basic concepts for the systematic study of human interaction and social structure. Social groups, categories, and modern complex social systems. Deviance, social change, and system maintenance. Values, norms, socialization, roles, stratification, and institutions. Sociological analysis of selected areas of social life, such as the family, religion, large-scale organizations, minority relations, mass communications, and crime.
